An Ordinance enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, to amend "The Stamp Ordinance, 1866."

Preamble.

[22nd May, 1868.] HEREAS it is expedient to amend, "The Stamp Ordinance,

1806;

"Be it enacted by the Governor of Hongkong, with the Advice of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:---

I The Amendments hereinafter stated shall be made in "The Amendments Stamp Ordinance, 1860.”

in "The Stamp Ordinance, 1866."

(1.) There shall be inserted in Clause 6 of Section XVI after Section 16.

same Clause.

(2.) In Section XX there shall be substituted for the Words Section 20.

(3.) From Section XXIII there shall be omitted the Words Section 23.

II. It shall be lawful for all Courts and Magistrates and for the All Courts, Collector of Stamp Revenue and all Persons employed for the sale &c. to take ur distribution of Stamps and they are hereby required to take session of possession of any Deed, Instrument, or Writing as to which any to which Offence or breach of the provisions of the laws relating to Stamps offence mag may appear to have been committed and to deliver the same to be appear to have used in any prosecution or proceeding in any Court.

III. Section VI of "The Stamp Ordinance, 1866," shall be Section 6 of repealed, but such repeal shall not affect any Proceeding pending, "The Stanip or any Right that has arisen or may arise, or any Penalty incurred 1806," repeal- or that may be incurred in respect of any Transaction, Act, Matter, ed, but stets or Thing done or existing prior to, or at the Commencement of this repeal not to Ordinance, under or by virtue of the suid Section,

affect any Proceeding pending, &c.

IV. For every Deed, Instrument, or Writing which shall be Stamp Duty to executed from the time when this Ordinance shall come into force, he payable as
